02Why oil

Made to be
handed down.

An oil painting is built up in layers of real paint.

Oil paint creates visible brushwork and texture on canvas. Choose an original oil portrait for your family or discuss a painting for your living room or pooja room. Ask our team how to care for the finished artwork.

How a commission works

Send us your photo or idea on WhatsApp, or bring it to the gallery. We'll talk through the size, composition and framing, then confirm the price and timeline before any paint touches the canvas. Oil takes longer than a digital portrait because each layer needs time to dry, so tell us early if you're working towards a date.

Oil or digital?

If you need a portrait quickly, or want to combine several photos, our digitally hand-painted portraits are usually the better fit. If you want a traditional painting with visible brushwork, choose oil. We're happy to help you decide.

A few useful details

Oil painting questions.

Is this real oil paint?

Can you paint from a photo?

Yes. Most of our oil commissions are painted from a photo you send us.

How long does an oil painting take?

Oil paintings take longer than digital portraits because the paint needs time to dry. We'll give you a realistic date when you order.
